613 commandments down to one

The Talmud says that Moses gave us 613 mitzvos (commandments ) to Israel, David condensed these into 10 principles: “Who may dwell on your holy mountain? One who walks in moral integrity, practices righteousness and speaks the truth from his heart. Who bears no slander upon his tongue, does not do evil to his fellow, nor tolerates and aspersion cast upon his neighbor. In whose eyes that which is blameworthy is despised, and who honors those who fear God. He will not change a vow that is to his own harm. He does not put out his money for usury, nor takes a bribe against an innocent man 0 he who acts by these principles will not falter forever” (Psalm 15)

Isaiah condensed them to six principles: “One who walks with righteousness and speaks with truthfulness, spurns extortionate profit, shakes his hands from graft, seal his ears from hearing bloodshed and shuts his eyes from seeing evil” (Isaiah 33:15).

Micah condensed them down to three principles: “What does God ask of you? But to do justice, love kindness and to walk humbly before God” (Micah 3:6) .

Habakkuk condensed them to a single principle: “A righteous person shall live through his faith.“ (Habakkuk 2:4)

Which just happens to be the apostle Paul's favorite passage “The righteous shall live by faith” (Rom 1:17; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38)
